Burn XT Guides: Reference Reading For Buyers
Two reference pages that are not about buying anything. The first explains what a thermogenic supplement is, what the category's evidence actually supports and where it stops. The second is a nine-point checklist for judging any label in the category, applied to this one, with the checks it fails printed alongside the ones it passes.
Written to be useful whether or not you buy anything from this desk.
Why this Burn XT desk publishes guides
A retail desk publishing a buyer's guide is an obvious conflict of interest, so the only version worth publishing is one that answers questions against its own commercial interest at least as often as it answers them in favour.
Both guides below do that. The category guide sets out what the outcome literature finds for thermogenic supplements as a whole, which is less than the category's advertising implies. The checklist scores this product out of nine, and it does not score nine.
Neither page carries a product name in its headings, because a reference page with a brand bolted onto every subheading is not a reference page. They link back to the product pages where that is genuinely the next thing to read, and not otherwise.
Two guides for Burn XT buyers
Thermogenic supplement guide
What thermogenesis means, which ingredients have trial evidence behind them and at what amounts, what the outcome reviews for the category find, and the four questions worth asking before buying anything in it. About 1,800 words.
Choosing a thermogenic supplement
A nine-point checklist for judging any label in this category: disclosure, standardisation, stimulant transparency, branded-ingredient fractions, verification, the guarantee window and three more. Applied to this product at the end, with the failures printed.
Which Burn XT page to read first
| What you want | Where to go |
|---|---|
| What is in it, and how much | Ingredients, then the printed panel |
| Whether it is safe for me | Side effects and safety, then who it is for |
| How and when to take it | How to take it |
| Whether the category works at all | The thermogenic supplement guide |
| How to judge this label against others | Choosing a thermogenic supplement |
| What buyers report | Reviews, and the recurring criticism section in particular |
| What it costs | Pricing, which explains why no figure is printed |
If you only read one page on this website, read the ingredients page. It carries the dose comparison table, which is the least flattering thing here.
Longer reading beyond the Burn XT guides
Five longer articles sit in the journal, and they go further into single questions than a product page sensibly can.
Two of them cost this product something. The caffeine article works out what 270 milligrams a serving means against the FDA's daily figure and against a normal coffee habit. The green tea extract article sets out the hepatotoxicity evidence in full, including the United States Pharmacopeia review that recommended a caution statement on products of this kind.
The other three are acetyl L-carnitine at 700 milligrams against what the trials actually used, why buyers on this desk report three to six weeks, and how to read a two-column serving panel, which is the skill this whole category is easiest to mislead you about.
What the Burn XT guides deliberately avoid
- ›No product name in a subheading. A reference page with a brand bolted onto every heading is an advertisement wearing a reference page's clothes.
- ›No comparison table against named competitors. Scoring rivals from the seat of a seller is not analysis, and the checklist works on any label without needing to name one.
- ›No invented number. Where an amount is not published, the guides say so, which is why the Capsimax row appears as a failure rather than an estimate.
- ›No outcome promise. The category guide quotes the outcome reviews before the mechanism studies, in that order, because that is the order in which they should change your mind.
- ›No citation that has not been checked. Every PubMed identifier on this website was confirmed against the eutils summary API before it was published.
The Burn XT category, in four sentences
If you read nothing else on this website, read these four sentences.
Thermogenic supplements raise the energy your body spends at rest by a few percent, for a few hours, and the best-measured version of that effect is about 4 percent of a 24-hour day (Dulloo and colleagues, 1999). The outcome reviews for the category find effects on body weight that are small and, in the Cochrane reading of green tea preparations, not clinically important (Jurgens and colleagues, 2012). Most of what you feel on day one is caffeine, and most of what the category charges a premium for is everything else. A product in this category can make a month you had already decided to have slightly easier to execute, and it cannot have the month for you.
Everything in both guides is an elaboration of those four sentences. The National Institutes of Health review of the whole category is the single best outside source for the same position (NIH Office of Dietary Supplements), and it is free to read.
Who writes the Burn XT reference pages
This desk publishes what the printed panel says and marks the gaps. The four claims below are the ones a sceptical reader can audit, which is the only reason to make them:
- The panel is the source. Figures come from the Supplement Facts panel photographed on the bottle, not from the manufacturer's marketing artwork. Where the two disagree, the panel is published and the disagreement is named on the page.
- Not published stays not published. Nothing undisclosed is estimated here. Pack prices are set at checkout, so no price is printed anywhere on this website.
- Sources are real and linked in the sentence. Every study cited was confirmed against its PubMed record first, and each appears beside the amount it used.
- Corrections change the date. Write to [email protected] and the review date moves forward.
We earn when you buy. Burnxts is the authorized United States retail desk for this product and this website makes money on orders placed through it. That is exactly why the caffeine figure is in the hero, why the research-dose table is on the ingredients page, and why the three-star reviews are published at the same size as the five-star ones. They are where our interest and yours pull apart, and you should be able to watch us choose.
On these pages specifically: neither guide carries a product name in a subheading, and the checklist scores this product against the same nine points it would apply to any competitor.
